Cardenal Spínola: the school

We are the spanish students, from Huelva.

Through this web, we want you know some things about our school and our city. We want you know another things about ourself like our hobbies and daily routines too! We hope learn about your customs and your daily routines :)

Our school is in the downtown of the city. The classes starts at 8:30 AM everyday, and finishes at 15:00 PM, but Mondays and Wednesdays the classes finishes at 14.00 PM, because these days of the weeks we have to go to afternoon school since 16:00 PM until 18:00 pm, so Mondays and Wednesdays we are always really tired...

In our school we have to wear an uniform school. The girls wear a red skirt with squares, a white polo shirt under a navy blue vest, navy blue socks and navy blue shoes. However, the boys wear a navy blue trousers, navy blue shoes and a white polo shirt under a navy blue vest.

Our school has got 5 floors and the hall, in the first three floors are the primary classes and the nursery school, and in the fourth and fifth the high school. In each floor there are 8 classes. In the main floor there are all the offices, the chapel, the gym and the playgrounds.

There is a gym, a chapel, a library and a laboratory. There are two playgrounds and two computers room.

I'm a student of Cardenal Spinola School, and I'm going to speak about one celebration of our Virgen Inmaculada. Every year, each class invent a song for her. This celebration is very important for us, because this Virgen has been next to us since we were childrens till now, day by day. That moment, the moment we are singing is very especial. All the classes go to the same room very emotioned. I love this day :$

In the chapel there are benches and in the center there is our virgin " La Inmaculada". This is the most important Virgin in our school. We sing all the days on May because is the month of "María" and in December more or less we invent a song for her.



In this part we can do sport when it is rainning. Our teacher of P.E. wants that we learn to play a lot of sports.


There are two classes for each courses, the chairs and the tables are green and there is a blackboard and there are four windows.The classes aren't very big, but they aren't too small.

Our school was founded by two person; Marcelo Spinola and Celia Mendez.

Blessed Marcelo Spinola y Maestre

"The Archbishop beggar", Marcelo Spinola, was named for his love and tireless work for the poor.

Born of noble family in San Fernando, Cadiz, on 14 January 1935. Child spends following the movements of his father, Motril, Valencia, Huelva, Sanlucar de Barrameda and Seville. On June 29, 1856 obtained a degree in Law from the University of Seville. She is 21 years. Set firm in Huelva, the free service of the poor, and serves there as a lawyer until he goes to Sanlúcar de Barrameda, on the fate of his father, commander of the Navy. He later left the profession to enter the seminary in Seville and was ordained a priest on May 21, 1864. Celebrated his first Mass in the church of St. Philip Neri in the same city, on 3 June, the Feast of the Sacred Heart.
During his early years as a priest is chaplain at the Church of Mercy in Sanlúcar de Barrameda.He was appointed by Cardinal priest of San Lorenzo Lastra de Sevilla, and exercises such as from the March 17, 1871 until May 28, 1879. As a chaplain in Sanlucar de Barrameda and then as pastor of St. Lorenzo in Seville, shows an unconditional surrender to his parishioners and his best time devoted primarily to the ministry of reconciliation. Appointed in 1879 a canon of the cathedral of Seville, February 6, 1881 he was elected Auxiliary Bishop of the same archdiocese. Promoted Bishop of Coria-Cáceres in 1884, there develops an intense apostolate. Among other things look more depressed area of ​​Spain, Las Hurdes, located in his diocese.
Celia Mendez and Delgado, who has known in the parish of San Lorenzo, Sevilla, Coria based on the Congregation of Handmaids of the Sacred Heart. He was transferred to the Diocese of Manchester in 1886, and ten years later become Archbishop of Seville. Among other initiatives important social significance, he founded the Correo de Andalucía in 1899. St. Pius X makes a cardinal in 1905. On December 31, 1905, His Majesty the King of Spain, Alfonso XIII, cardinal biretta imposed.He died in Seville on January 19, 1906, 71 years old.

Celia Mendez and Delgado

Founder of the Servants of the Sacred Heart with Cardinal Spinola.
Celia Mendez and Delgado was born in Fuentes de Andalucía (Sevilla), 11 February 1844. Married at age 17 with Paulino Fernandez de Cordoba and Vera de Aragon, Marquis de la Puebla de Obando. At age 30 widowed, feels a huge gap that needs filling again. Nothing interests you or catches your eye, do not serve half measures, wants to turn around his life. He decides to go to the parish of S. D. Lawrence to talk to Marcelo, it realizes that Celia has been a strong call from God, the two embark on a journey of discovery in 1885 led to the founding of the Servants of the Sacred Heart in Coria, Cáceres.
In a society in which the preparation of women leaves much to be desired, the Congregation of Handmaids is dedicated to promoting education in all social classes of the time. From Coria will Puente Genil, and then, after a period of difficulties, to Malaga where they settle and open a school.In 1893, home and school inaugurated in Ronda. Court in 1896 in Concepción, Huelva and in 1899 in Moguer ... In the same year, 1899, the Handmaids are installed in Seville and in 1903 in Linares. In 1907 there is a foundation in Murcia attempt that fails to consolidate. This house is closed shortly after the death of Celia Méndez.
After years of tireless work and dedication to these foundations, Celia Méndez died in Seville on June 2, 1908.

The first center / school starting D. Marcelo and Celia will be in Coria (Cáceres - 1885). They view education as a comprehensive education proposal:

The work and thought of the founders are still alive in the Church through ''La Congregación de Esclavas del Divino Corazón'', which today extends its apostolic by Spain, Italy, Japan, Philippines, Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, Paraguay and Venezuela

Also, our classes have a "free" day when we have a time with our class, and we do many activities.
